Mission:
Interlude - Day 2
Location: The Promonade
Timeline: MD2 15:00
ON:
Liam wondered out of the Lotus Lounge into the promenade streets, his twin hot on his heels.
~She’s nice~ Jon thought telepathically to him.
The other man wasn’t fast enough as Liam turned round and punched him firmly in the jaw.
~She’s ….~he started almost saying my girl. But Tera wasn’t. They had one great date, one even better night and she had ignored all his messages for a second date afterwards despite saying at the time she wanted one. But then her comms had been tampered with and in the Lotus Lounge, she had wanted to kiss him. Thought Jon was him. So maybe she did like him. He hated being single again and trying to understand women.
~Look I like her okay so don’t go there. You already stole Sydney.~
~Okay okay …~ Jon rubbed his face. ~I guess I deserve that~
People around them had stopped and were staring. “I deserved that,” Jon said out loud in standard.
“He really did,” Liam added setting off again.
“You have to talk to me you know. I’m not going away. Well for at least 2 weeks. My sole goal is to get us right again. I miss you.”
Liam continued on ignoring him but he projected again. “Come on we are brothers we need to sort this out.”
“Have you even ….” Liam whirled round and caught himself projecting the rest of the sentence to his mirror image. ~met your child. Sorted things out with Syd. Are you taking responsibility now? And what did you think you were going to achieve masquerading as me?~
~I thought Tera was someone important and she was upset. Having problems. I just helped. I got something to get rid of the graffiti and only meant to take her for a drink to try help her. I didn’t intend it to go that far. I didn’t know she was going to kiss me or that place …. Was that sort of place? What in the hell are you doing going there and using my money anyway. My soon to be ex-wife hit the roof~
~Charlotte left you~ Liam said suddenly.
~That’s what happens when you take responsibility for a child you didn’t know about and she doesn’t want in your life. And she thinks you’re spending large amounts of credits behind her back.~
~She actually left you? ~
~Well you weren’t there to help mediate. You just took off. Pissed and clearly still were months later to pull that stunt.~
~I had just gone through all that shit in the mirror place, found out my fiancé left me because she got into a dalliance with you … that you kept secret. No you and mother kept secret all those years. I had no idea where she was. I searched for her for years. She just up sticks and disappeared and all due to you. And Jon how much of my money have you borrowed over the years. So I decided to get back at you. For once.”
Jon held his hands up. ~Okay point taken. I’m shit with money. It doesn’t matter now anyway. She’s filed against me. There’s no going back. And I can’t blame her. I’m a jerk. I was a lousy husband too. Look I didn’t know where she went either. I should have told you. Mother thought it would be counterproductive. She thought it best that you didn’t know. It was a stupid mistake. It just happened and I had no idea Sydney was pregnant. Do you really think I would have abandoned my son? I’m sorry for it all. Everything. ~
Liam grimaced feeling himself start to soften. He turned round and punched him again anyway just for good measure. There was one more thing needed sorting out. “That’s for trying to marry me off.~
“ I deserved it,” Jon said out loud to the watchers as they continued walking the Promenade. “You don’t get a third though. Think about it, when we fight who usually comes out on top.~
Liam snorted as he sensed the throbbing pain off his twins jaw. The desire to be mad at him was ebbing out of his system anyway. “Yeah I’m done. I don’t really want another potential court Marshall. And you’re not half as irritating as Soran. At least you have a sense of humour. Although she’s better looking in appearance if not in personality. If she actually has a personality under those wielded to her face pigtails.”
“I’m out of uniform and its personal dispute; I wouldn’t press for a court Marshall. You just don’t get a third. And who the hell is Soran?” Jon said confused.
When Liam said nothing more he decided to leave that discussion on how his perfect brother could get court marshalled for another time. He couldn’t fathom him doing anything that serious. Back to the matter at hand.
“Look, you wanted to get married. You proposed to Haku.”
“To Haku. Who I loved. Which was clearly a mistake. Our whole relationship was wrong. I see that now. And I didn’t want to marry a complete stranger, in some stuck up middle class house. Become a house husband dusting off the bracelet of Nebon or some other ridiculous relic.”
“It was for the family and it meant you would stay on Betazed. ~ Jon continued. “Again I’m sorry. If you had stuck around ….”
~You wanted to keep an eye on me~ Liam suddenly rationalised.
~We wanted to keep you safe,~
“I have memories missing,” Liam stopped again suddenly as the thought hit him. “You and mother …..”
“You were messed up when you got back from that place. We blocked some,” Jon admitted.
“Who gave you both any right to do that,” Liam demanded frustrated. He wanted to piece it all together. Well evidentially when Noelle decided he was ready in his treatment.
“You did,” Jon said stunning him. “It was all your idea Liam. You asked us to do it.”
