Mission:
Doors of Perception
Location: Dyson Repair Yards
Scaliontis arrived at the Dyson repair yards, the main office was on the far end. The Kangaroo dropped its passengers off at the closest end to DS5, it will return at the end of the day. The Romulan Chief Engineer made his way to one of the transporter rooms as he intended to meet with the officer-in-charge for Helios’ repairs schedule and inspect the ship.
He materialised in Main Engineering, he disliked the Springfield-class due to the badly designed engineering hull and how it was attached to the primary hull. If he could get away with it, he’d authorise a few spaceframe changes and he was very tempted to do it now but only Starfleet Command would have that level of authority.
Scaliontis looked around for the senior repairs engineer and found him with panel sections, circuitry, isolinear chips, interface pieces and other such internal machinery all around him. The engineer was busy inside the display table’s interior. ”Hey Lieutenant,” Scaliontis greeted as he lowered himself to see what the engineer was doing.
A bump against the display table told Scaliontis that the engineer hit his head or something. ”Oh, hello Lieutenant,” the engineer replied after getting out from the table. ”I heard the new Chief had arrived but that debacle on Pangaea kept you away from Dyson, I’m Lieutenant Declan Mulray.” Declan offered his hand.
”A pleasure to meet you Lieutenant, Scaliontis said with a smile. ”Yes the portals and alternate universes, I’m never going down to those caves again.” He added with a scowl but then brightened again. ”So how goes the repairs to the Helios Mister Mulray?”
”Slowly, since we have to make sure redundant interface systems must be added to allow for the officers access while they monitor cadets.” Declan said annoyed. Though he was happy that he was busy.
”I understand, no rush since the Academy has various training vessel still available for their use," Scaliontis said and the two began working on the table as they talked.
”Not to mention this ship is just a bit too big for a training vessel.” Declan said minutes later. ”Usually it’s smaller vessels.” He didn’t need to explain why, both of them knew why.
Scaliontis nodded as he fiddled with some of the table casing to better fit some of the internal machinery. ”Did the Academy give us a deadline for the Helios?” He asked, the orders didn’t have any stardate request on it.
Declan frowned. ”They didn’t?” He looked over at his chief. ”That’s not like the Academy.” They continued to work on the display table where various systems of the Helios is controlled from.
