As unexpected as the mud bath was, I find myself feeling grateful for the opportunity for relaxation given what we are soon to face.

As I mentioned in my previous log, the conversation with the Ferengi Ambassador mostly confirmed much of what we already knew about our victim's personality and behavioral habits. Given what we know, of course, only complicates my feelings on the matter. While I don't think anyone deserves to be murdered, there's more than a good chance that whomever killed Nazl was in an extreme emotional state when he or she did so, possibly having suffered at his hands previously.

Murder is wrong, but as a trauma therapist, I'd be hard-pressed to throw the book at someone who potentially acted violently as a result of physical and emotional trauma. I also can't help but be aware that whatever the facts, anything we do has the potential to fuel the fires of the anti-Allen groups and the nonhuman delegations on station.

All I can really do is take my own advice and focus on what I can do to move forward. For now, that means joining Liam and Caleb for a visit to the Lotus Lounge to explore potential leads in the case. I can't say I was thrilled to see the expression on Liam's face when we discussed going there. He apparently knows much more about the people working there than I do despite my previous posting with Leto Colony, and if the look in his eyes is any indication, I'm in for a strange, possibly dangerous experience. I can't say I've ever seen him this unsettled before.

I do find it sweet that he wants to protect me, and I am grateful for the warm relationship we continue to share.
