[Last time on "The Promised Dinner']

Putty. She's putty in your hands, Ace. Tonight, we will find out just how wild she can be. Feed her, wine and dine her, and then do her. Happy Ace. He sighed pleasantly.

Naomi left the table, saying, "I'll place your orders. I know that your lady was ready to place the entire meal, but we shall see how she feels after appetizers and wine." There was something slightly conniving about the waitress' tone or was it snide? Whatever it was, there was extra meaning as Matilda could see a slight eyeroll as the waitress left.

Ace, however, was oblivious to it. He tested the waters further with his nicknames for Matilda, "So, Tillie, why don't you tell me more about yourself. I was not certain what I was going to do with you, the other day in Ops."

[And now for the continuation]

Matilda lowered her glass, "Hmmnn, I don't think Naomi likes me too well." She chuckled lowly." Turning to where she could face Ace a bit more fully, the slit of her dress exposing a little slice of her thigh. "There are certain things we could discuss but not in a public place. Are you wanting to know where I am from? If I am single? What I like to do, when on my personal time besides enjoying a lovely evening with such a handsome fellow like yourself?" Her eyes were sparkling with amusement, as well as interest.

"What if I said, 'All of the above'?" He ignored the comment about Naomi, knowing that she was likely getting extremely jealous. She had not cared much for Bri, either. Then again, Naomi felt that Bri was treating Ace poorly. The dance after that, though, made it all worth it for the waitress.

"I am just a wee, boring small town girl, raised among fish and plenty of places for a girl to run in." She gave him a sultry look. "I am rather active in my personal time, though there are times when I do something that most people would probably not find exciting, but I do. I do like to work in a garden. I go fishing, I play pool and play cards." That was all that she was going to offer at the moment.

Boring my ass, Ace thought to himself. With a look like that? You're a naughty, naughty girl, Tillie. At the rate that you're going, you're going to want to skip dinner and get right to dessert: me. He gave Matilda an amused smile. Why do I get all the garden girls lately? First Bri, now Matilda? For God's sake? Have I developed a type? "Pool and cards? Now those sound like games I can get behind. Do you have any preferences on card games?"

"I know a few card games. Also there are other things that are more active, but I don't know if you would be interested in it. And that is Parkour. Freerunning and trail running." Matlida added.

Ace chuckled, almost disbelievingly. His luck was not this good, was it? Testing her, he asked, "You can't be serious? Parkour? You do parkour...." He looked her over, even obviously looking under the table to get a more solid glimpse at her thigh that had been exposed. Muscle became evident. "Well," he told her definitively. "Seems you might have the muscles for it. My guess is that you're probably a gymnast, as well, if you're into parkour."

"I most certainly am." Matilda grinned from ear to ear. "Hmmn good guess. Or more of a rather astute observer. I can see you are someone who notices details." She reached out and caressed his jawline. She then looked over towards where Naomi had disappeared, "I do hope that our food gets here soon,as I am famished."

If Ace was not controlling himself, he might have drooled right there on the table. Oh, wow! A gymnast! All the positions we are going to try! Flexibility galore! Can't wait! Can't wait! And she's ready to roar! Look at her playing with me! We have to speed this dinner up, NOW!

Just as Matilda mentioned food, Naomi showed up and cleared her throat. Ace had the small courtesy to say, "Ah! Seems we have some dishes here."

Naomi agreed. "Yes, I have brought your glasses of wine." She took a small vial and professionally poured their respective choices into their wine glasses. "Your appetizers should be coming shortly." She shot Matilda a sharp look. "Are you certain on your choice of dinner? I know that the gentleman had not yet placed his order. I could put the orders in now, if you would like," and apparently are in a hurry to go somewhere. If Ace does not dance with me tonight, we will be having words tomorrow.

"Naomi is it? Did you say the proportions are a bit large? Or was that Ace?" She took a look at the man in question. "We could share the dinner as well as the appetizers that were mentioned. Sharing always seems to make the food taste better." She looked at Ace through her eyelashes. "I do speak truth, and I would like dinner."

Naomi's eyes narrowed at Matilda. Her voice grew sharper. "I only speak of the meals, ma'am." What does Ace see in her? Bet that she doesn't even dance.

Ace grinned at Matilda. She is soooooo in to me. God, I can hardly wait! "Did you want just one meal, Tillie? Or should we each order a separate meal and share? Your choice."

Looking at Naomi, "I see." Matilda turned to Ace, "You know that would be great as well, order something and we can share. Though depending on how much there is, I might end up taking some to go. What do you say?" she asked ignoring Naomi.

"I don't mind that at all. It might even allow for a nice breakfast," Ace replied, pretty certain that Matilda was thinking the same thing that he was thinking at this point.

He then turned to Naomi and said, "I think that I shall have the braciole tonight."

Naomi responded, "Ah! I see you're going for comfort food tonight. I will put your orders in and when the appetizers are finished, I shall return." With that, she smirked as she turned to leave and disappeared from view.

"From what I am detecting the way that Naomi is acting, she's a little bit jealous. Guess she wants to dance the night away with you, and me to go to my quarters and cry while I eat ice cream. It doesn't matter to me if she is jealous. She needs to realize that there may be others who are interested in you. She can't have sole ownership of you, just because she wants it. Granted you are quite handsome, so can't blame her either." Matilda had an easy smile.

Ace looked coyly at Matilda, "What makes you think that I can even dance or that Naomi wants to dance the night with me?" Did Tillie just say that she likes open relationships? Oh, my! She might last for a little while. Not the jealous type either? This is too good to be true. He paused his thoughts for a moment and his smile faded a bit. Wait! If this is all so good, then what in the world is WRONG with this woman?!

"I am not talking about the upright ballroom dancing I am talking about something else entirely. The dance that is done behind closed doors, of which I am certain you can do rather well, due to Naomi's reaction." I am wondering how soon he will cut me loose, hopefully after I get something to eat. It's going to be a lonely night from what I am thinking. Good thing I've got ice cream in the fridge. There are times when men just don't like what they serve, served back to them. The chase is what a lot of them are more into. Still tonight it has been entertaining at any rate.

"Oh, that!" Ace laughed, finally catching on. "No, girls like Naomi are a dime a dozen," he told Matilda confidently. "I thought that maybe you heard something. I have danced with her, at least the last time I was here. It was kind of a forced matter and she might have taken rather kindly to me...." Ace shrugged helplessly. "A story for another time. I'd rather keep my attention all on you."

"And my attention is wholly on you as well, well until the food arrives," Matilda replied, giving Ace a saucy wink. "All joking aside, I am looking forward to spending time with you tonight." She leaned in and brushed her lips against his.

Well, screw it! This booth is semi-private. The moment that Matilda's lips brushed against his, Ace put his arm around Matilda and brought her into him. His lips pressed back against hers. Longing for taste, he allowed his lips to part and his tongue to slide in towards Matilda's mouth.

Before more could happen, he heard a small clearing of the throat and Naomi's voice explain, "Your appetizers have arrived." She placed them on the table with a flat stare at Tillie and Ace. "Sorry to have disturbed you." There was something in that statement that made it clear that she was anything but sorry, despite the lack of intonation.

Matilda chuckled softly. "Alas, interrupted once more, but the night is still young, we eat, we drink, then --," she left that hovering in the air. "a destination unknown, at least for me." She turned her attention to the appetizers which looked rather delicious.

Naomi personally wanted to gag. She quickly turned on her heels and left the table.

"You're terrible. You know that, right?" Ace asked chuckling, looking at the focaccia bread and meatballs. He poked a meatball with a fork and then held it tantalizingly close to Matilda's lips. "Perhaps you would like to take a taste of this ball? Hmmm?"

"And why do you think me terrible?" Matilda asked raising her eyebrows, up then down. "Hmmnn...this most definitely." She ignored the double entendre he made, taking a bite. "Oh, this is really good; glad you mentioned this." She reached over to get a napkin to dab at her lips. She picked up some focaccia bread, held it up towards Ace's lips. "Your turn." Flirtation with food, it was fun to do so, even more fun where Naomi was concerned. Matilda knew she wasn't making any friends where the waitress was concerned. If she were to come back to this restaurant, she wouldn't be having Naomi be her waitress.

Ace opened his mouth wider than necessary, growled lightly, and then ripped a piece of focaccia bread from Tillie's proffered hand. He gave her a sultry wink and chewed purposefully with a large grin.

Matilda looked over towards the piano, then looked at Ace. "Do you happen to play the piano? If so, I would love to hear something." She leaned in to whisper in his ear.

"I do not," Ace admitted. "However, I have been known to sing on special occasions."

"You do? I would love to hear you sing. That is if you wish to do so." Matilda was genuinely interested in hearing him. "Please sing something for me." There were stars in her eyes.
