*COM* "Bring her here, alive. Gul Denat out." The Ground Commander said sternly as he closed the communication line with a frustrated slam of his fist on a nearby console.
Gil Taksheer looked around at the nearby Troopers and signaled for them to surround her as he walked over to grab her. "On your feet, Trill." He said as he grabbed one of the Trill's arms and hefted her back to her feet.
Maritza couldn't hold back the sharp cry as she was wrenched up. The first shot had got her about three fingers below the ribs, taken out a fingers width chunk of intestines , probably her liver too, and for a moment white pain washed over her, breaking her out in a cold sweat. The second shot would have gone through her heart if she hadn't already been falling. It had carved a burning line across her shoulder that throbbed in counterpoint. "You can't shoot," she gasped out, trying to summon bravado through the radiating pain. "Klingon's wouldn't have missed."
"And you run like a typical Starfleeter. . .why don't you just face your death with some semblance of courage." Gil Taksheer said without any sympathy to the injured belligerent as he checked her for any weapons.
*COM* "2nd Platoon to HQ, we've captured the belligerent, prepare a medical bay to treat any possible injuries." He said as he prepared himself for the transfer. As he looked up in the sky he could see the faint streaks through the upper atmosphere as Cardassian fighters engaged the initial Klingon invaders. The bright spots that he would occasionally see indicated that the battle was already become more fierce.
"We'll see what Gul Denat has planned for you. . ." Glinn Makjel said as he made his way over to the main group and prepared to be beamed out.
*COM* "Energize*

As the dematerialization effect wore off, Glinn Makjel was greeted by Glinn Ballan, the Executive Officer of the Rydakah. "Welcome aboard the Rydakah, Makjel." The Executive Officer greeted formally.
A look of confusion washed across Glinn Majkel's face. "What are we doing here? We're supposed to be back at the Forward Operating Base." The Cardassian Officer asked.
"Change plans, our forces are under heavy attack by the Klingon fleet both in space and now on the surface." Glinn Ballan The FOB couldn't get a good lock on you due to the interference and the constant bombing on the facility. So we re-directed you here." he further stated.
"What about her?" Glinn Majkel said, gesturing to the haggard Starfleet Officer that was being held by two Cardassian troopers.
Glinn Ballan walked over to Soran and stared at her intently for several moments. "On any other day, I'd be elated to be staring into the face of the infamous Captain Maritza Soran. Unfortunately, we're facing a significant tactical crisis, so the idle chit-chat will have to wait." The Executive Officer said.
"Get her to Medical Bay, immediately. I'm sure Gul Pelsak will want to speak with her soon enough." Glinn Ballan said, referring to the Rydakah's Commanding Officer.
"Do you have anything to say, Ms. Soran?" Glinn Ballan asked the woman.
Despite being able to feel the hole in her belly, mostly cauterized but oozing, Maritza couldn't help but grin at the phrase Significant tactical crisis. Obviously the Cardassians hadn't accounted for Klingons turning up, and so fast. "That's Captain Soran." She snapped. "SN - 459 - 4275 - FEN . And I'd thank you not to waste my time with the monkeys. I demand to talk the organ grinder. Or does Turvan plan to cower behind all of you until I get old and grey?"
The Cardassian bit down on his tongue to prevent himself from giving into the anger. "Get her out of here." He ordered to the other Troopers. He turned back around to address Glinn Makjel.
"So are we going to make our way back to the FOB to beam back down?" He asked.
"Negative, for the time being, you and your men will be tasked to Rydakah and fall in under Gul Pelsak's command. We're not sure how this battle will turn out, so we'll be mostly engaged in providing cover for our forces on the surface." Glinn Ballan said with reservation. A major part of him wished to be involved in the battle with the Klingons, but he knew that the Cardassian forces needed time to re-group and they were dangerously exposed without some sort of orbital support.
Maritza listened as she was pushed out of the transporter room, gratified at the doubt in the tone, her war might be about to end, but knowing the Cardassians were going to pay dearly for every meter was a bittersweet comfort. And then she was out of ear shot. The gut wound was a steady throb inline with her heartbeat and she could feel the ichor sticking to the burnt edges of her vest. "I understand the need to follow orders," she told the soldiers around her. "But I suspect a trip to the Medic is just delaying the inevitable. I'd really just have a hairbrush and sonic shower. No need to waste medical supplies." The corridor shuddered slightly, a glancing blow on shields from a stray phaser no doubt. "You're really going to need those today."
The 2 Cardassian Troopers gave each other a slight glance, but continued to walk her towards the Medical Bay. The two Troopers were low-level, but they were smart enough to not defy a direct order from the ship's Executive Officer. More importantly, it would be their heads on a pike if they just let her die on the deck.
After a bit of a walk the two arrived at the Medical Bay and delivered her to the nearest bed and unceremoniously dumped her onto it. "Trill, Female, Federation combatant." One of the Troopers said to a Cardassian Medic as they came over and began to check Maritza's vitals.
"Well at least you managed to capture this one alive." Replied Glinn Rojell, the Chief Medical Officer for the Rydakah. "I was starting to wonder if you even knew that your weapons had a stun setting on it." He said as he opened Maritza's uniform tunic in order to address her wounds.
She tried not to wince as the doctor pushed aside the crusting edges of her vest, and then tried not to throw up as she saw viscera, both burnt and bloody inside the gouge in her flesh. Bile rose in her mouth, and she choked it down again. "Do I get to refuse treatment?" She hadn't followed half of what the Fae creature had told her, but she was seventy percent sure if she expired before Turvan could do anything to her personally, his victory would be incomplete, and he'd be locked out of the Portal Cavern forever. Maybe she could make a run for it, provoke the guards into finishing the job. Maybe there'd be a scalpel somewhere, and she could stab the medic. "Save you the firing squad."
"Oh, I'm sure your people would love to share that bit of propaganda: Cardassian doctor unable to treat disruptor wounds. Was it malice or just simple incompetence?" Dr. Rojell said sarcastically. "I don't concern myself with what the Troopers do once you walk out of my Medical Bay. But unless and until you are able to walk out of those doors on your own two feet, you are my patient." The medical officer said as she began to injected the antibiotic hypospray into Maritza's neck to treat the possible injection in her wounds.
"When you wake up, you'll feel just like normal. . .or whatever you Trills consider normal when you're not serving as a sleeve for some slug." Dr. Rojell said with slight revulsion.
"I do not consent to general anaesthesia," Maritza didn't expect the doctor to give two hoots, but she had to go through the motions. The thought of being unconscious here was far worse than being just a prisoner. The thought of being that vulnerable surrounded by the enemy... the doctor was not the only one feeling revulsion.
Transporter Bay 4
"How did the Klingons get so close to us?" Glinn Makjel asked incredulously. "Why didn't the Xi'Cadians try to at least put up some kind of defense." He said as he grabbed onto a support beam as the ship rocked violently.
"It turns out the Federation also launched an attack on the Xi'Cadia, so naturally the Xi'Cadians' attention were focused elsewhere." Glinn Ballan replied as he too held onto the wall. "Regardless, those Targs have obviously brought to bear a large number of vessels. They would never have launched this attack without the blessing of their Federation handlers." Glinn Ballan said as the two Glinns slowly made their way away from the transporter.
*COM* "Bridge to Ballan!" Came the urgent voice through the comm unit.
*COM* "This is Ballan, go ahead." The Executive Officer responded.
*COM* "A dozen freighters just warped into the immediate area. We're not sure what they are do----what just happ--- The freighters just exploded within the Klingon lines. We're reading a massive EMP surge." The Tactical Officer reported. "A ODN panel ruptured near Gul Pelsak, she's bleeding badly." The Officer shouted.
*COM* "Damnit...I'm on my way!" Gul Bellan said as he turned and made his way to the nearest turbolift, followed quickly behind by Glinn Majkel. "Get Gul Pelsak to the Medical Bay immediately!"
