N’Evran stepped out of the docking ring onto Starbase Twelve. He was very surprised to hear his name called.

“Commander N’Evran” came a male voice.

Looking about N’Evran found the source of the voice, an Andorian Chief Petty Officer.

“I am Commander N’Evran”, he said to the Andorian.

“I am Chief Petty Officer Avrotil”, the man said. “Admiral Garrison sent me with instructions to bring you to his office.”

“Very well Chief, lead the way”, N’Evran said and followed. “Things seem rather busy. What’s going on?”

The Andorian cast a glance to him and said, “I take it you haven’t heard.”

“The Galloway has been without reliable communications for two weeks, so apparently I haven’t”, N’Evran answered.

“Deep Space 5 was attacked by the Cardassians and Xi’Cadians”, the Chief replied with a scowl. “They control the station now.”

“Casualties?”, N’Evran asked.

“Very few”, said Avrotil. “Apparently the XO surrendered relatively early in the conflict.”

N’Evran nodded and remained silent until he was shown into the space on Deep Space Twelve assigned to his former Captain.

“N’Evran”, Garrison said with a nod. “The situation has changed.”

“Admiral”, N’Evran said with a nod. “I just received a bit of the scuttlebutt on the way here.”

“Well, it is down right truth”, Garrison replied. “Not just scuttlebutt I am afraid. The Federation President said we are going to fight. How and when things happen are just starting to come together. You have two hours to get ready to attend a briefing with me. Use the side office.”

“Yes, sir”, N’Evran said.

“And N’Evran”

“Yes, sir?”, N’Evran replied.

“Good to see you”, Garrison said with a nod.
