ON:

Silk had so wanted to go down to the planet and the captain had not said no, but neither had she said yes. The comings and goings to the planet were a touchy sore spot and from what Silk had gathered not something one did and not without a cause. Though the Cardassians had decamped to there and thus upset a bit of the balance, so far no one had made big major objections. Just the usual minor, without getting full authorization.

No Fleet and some of the others all they could think about is making polite smiles and having little tea parties where they would tell a few jokes and pretend they were all getting along and all the while who knew what was going on really. Indeed, though she had been tempted to head down with a supply run in disguise, she pretty much figured that the cost of being discovered outweighed the potential boots on the ground work. All they would need is something to go wrong and have a Fleet officer in disguise be discovered. The accusations of spying would create a stink that would land in the captain's lap in no time.

Thus, Silk did as she knew best, she had gone gambling. No one suspected a human to cheat by reading minds but it was what it was and besides she was pretty darn good without using her talent. She even favoured the Ferengi games and those were darn hard to cheat at especially if Ferengi were playing. The cost to her discretionary funds had been depleted dealing the Ferengi contingent so that was one thing, and latinum or credits greasing palms to a supply run ship was needed as well.

So Silk had hit the various joints and though she lost some games just to make things look not too suspicious, she won several and especially when it seemed the stakes got a bit high in spots. Gambling on the games was one thing, she also took to gambling on more sporting events, especially fighting events in which she entered. There had been one bout with an Andorian that was favoured heavily and she had bet on herself with a good amount.

He had been darn quick and it had taken every bit of her skill but when she got a blow in to one of his antenae that was the end for him. It put him off balance and he continued to favour the one side and stick near a wall for support. Silk had taken advantage of that, and with her style of coming in landing something and then moving off and returning, what was like little bee stings. The thing is the bee stings began to add up and finally he slowed and weakened enough that Silk could finish him off.

That had proved to be the biggest income producer and though she was sore now, it had been worth it and she then proceeded to spread the largess around figuring what palms to grease to get intel on the Cardassians. She knew that some would take the bribes and just give her crap but she more or less had said, "If you watched the Andorian fight..well that could be you." She had gotten a supply run captain that was headed for the Cardassian quarters on the planet and he was more than happy to get anything on the Cardassians as well as get a tidy bonus in the process.

So the pieces had been set in motion and now all she had to do was wait, if slightly impatiently for stories to come back and try to piece together what was really going on.
