Figments

I lit a beacon tonight.
Not a great bonfire to celebrate the passing of the fallen, just a small blaze constrained in the confines of a crucible shaped from duranium I found among my belongings.
I’ve never had much faith in higher powers, and lately even my own Element, Ihhuein has been dry. I knew it was there, forgotten, and unused. In time I would have given it to her, she was, she is a creature of fire and air. She would have grown to appreciate the chased detail on the support, even the patina that grows inside the crucible with use.
I hope that wherever Eviess is now, whenever she is that Rusalka keeps her word. I hope that they both can see the small light that blazed, a diminished reflection of the wound that burns through my body and sears in my belly.
Will I ever see the Fae again? My instincts tell me that Rusalka will return, but when, or how, or why is beyond me.
Until then, all I can do is trust that she is safe and loved.
There's the door chime. My guess is that the first who will call on me is a counselor. They are fools if they think I haven't noticed the guard on my door, they are fools if they think I have any regrets but even I am not sure what really happened.
I lived a conversation I lived over four years ago and it was real to me.
If there wasn't a planet outside new to this sector, I would believe that the Fae and all their doings were a figment of my imagination.
I had better answer that door.
End log.
