ON:

Lucius took a deep breath and tapped the buzzer outside of the Executive Officer's office door. He was nervous, but he was also excited. The station presented a different experience for the older of the twins. He had never served aboard a station. He was more than qualified, or at least he thought so. Lucius did sometimes have a problem overestimating his capabilities, but he still felt prepared to deal with the maintenance of a station. Commander Ryan was the one he was to report to, and now here he was.

“Enter,” came a baritone voice. The doors slid open to reveal a tall, ruggedly handsome man with dark hair and eyes sitting behind the desk. The office was decorated with holo-pictures of a cattle ranch and paintings of the Ancient American West On the desk was a photograph of a beautiful blonde Trill woman and a younger beautiful Trill teenager with rainbow colored hair. A small box with a glass lid displayed two ancient pearl-handled Colt Peacemaker revolvers.

The tall commander stood and looked Lucius over before gesturing to the chair in front of the desk. “Lieutenant Lucius, Ah presume?” he asked in a Texas drawl. “Have a seat. Can Ah get ya’ll anythin’ ta drink?”

Lucius nodded and saluted the tall man respectfully. "I am indeed." His eyes kept returning to the revolvers. Lucius was not tall, so he had to look up at Caleb. His blond hair was pulled back tightly from his face in a very small ponytail. He sat in the indicated chair. "Sorry? Drink? Uh... raktajino? Sweet, please, and thank you."

Caleb nodded and went to the replicator on the wall, ordering a sweet raktajino for Lucius and a black coffee for himself.

“There ya go,” Caleb said, handing the Klingon coffee to the young man before taking his seat behind his desk. “So yer mah new chief engineer?” he said, searching through a stack of padds before he found the correct one and called up Lucius’ file. “From Angel One?” he said, a bit surprised.

"Thank you so much, sir." The raktajino smelled so good for a moment Lucius wished he could jump into the cup and live there. He took several sips and nodded. "Yes, sir," he replied to both questions. "Engineer and Angel One. I know that's probably not the usual planet that slides across your desk, but my parents were progressive, at least with their punishments." He chuckled.

“It sounds interestin’,” Caleb said with a chuckle. “So tell me about yourself, son,” he said, looking across the desk at the young man. “Ya mentioned your parents.”

Lucius sipped his Klingon coffee and nodded. "So, yeah, they're still home on Angel One. My mother is in politics and my father is a housedad. I have a twin brother. He's just been stationed here as well. We kinda go together." He shrugged a little. "I like to build things. I like to work out. I like sports." He grinned a little.

“Good,” Caleb said with a smile. “Ah got a daughter mahself,” he commented, glancing over at the picture of the teenager and the blonde Trill. “There’s a few intramural sports clubs here on the station,” he told Lucius. “It’s been a while since Ah’ve done sports, but they might interest you. Do ya’ll have any questions for me about the station, or anything?” he asked the young man.

"I can't really think of anything specific," Lucius responded with a smile. "I'm glad to hear there are clubs here. You have a counselor, right? I haven't made my way through the entirety of the roster. If so, I would like to transfer my information over. I'm actually relieved to be on a station. I think it might be more my speed," he admitted.

“Yes, we have a counseling department,” Caleb said. “Like most ships. Ah’m sure they’ll be happy ta help ya with your transfer.”

Caleb stood and offered his hand to Lucius. “Welcome aboard again, Lieutenant. Let me know if ya need anythin’, an’ good luck settlin’ in.”

Lucius also stood with a smile and took Caleb's hand for a firm handshake. "Thank you, Commander. I really appreciate the warm welcome and the larger quarters." He chuckled and turned to take his leave, certain that he was going to love station life.
