451 words; about a 2 minute read

Mission: Pangaea (Wrap up)
Location: Liam's quarters
Timeline: MD6, 00.27am

Liam was stuffed full of Amia’s delicious cooking, slightly more drunk than he should be from Yolanthe’s cocktails and ready to hit the sack. Arriving back at his quarters he almost didn’t manage to side step the piano that had magically it seemed been transported to smack bang in the middle of the living room.

“Betsy,” he smiled happily running his fingers fondly over the top. “Together again ehh girl.”

He headed to the washroom pulling his shirt off and then asking the computer, “Messages Computer?”

“One message from Betazed and one from the USS Merlin.”

“Computer delete both,” Liam ordered splashing some water on his face.

“So big brother you have found me,” he mused. He started cleaning his teeth. It wouldn’t be long before Jon showed up. Especially if he kept spending his money at the Lotus Lounge he mused. He refused to feel guilty about it. Jon had borrowed and never paid back plenty of credits over the years.

He finished his teeth and pulled off his trousers tossing them and the shirt in the laundry cleaning unit before walking out and diving on his bed.

............................

Suddenly he was back there. In the damp and darkness. Unable to move, strapped down. ~No no no no~ Liam felt his mind scream.

“We are going to extract some more DNA,” that voice insisted. Again. “Attempting test Charlie 07.”

The needles went straight through his skin in several places causing Liam to yell out in pain.

“Why,” he demanded a couple of minutes later still gasping at the throbbing when they retracted again.

“Same as always,” she stepped forward looking annoyed. “To try fix our Liam. To try make you DO something. Because the Captain demands it.”

He heard some shuffling in the direction of the back of the lab. He couldn’t see them and whatever cocktail they kept injecting him with masked his reading abilities. But someone else was in the room.

“Their back.”

“Did they manage to get it?”

“Barely. You need to do the base line tests again now we have new information,”

"I am still keeping my primary hypothesis as the log buoy caused the tumour that they then removed. Its the only correlation in both their lives we have found so far," the female stated.

"But if this comes back inconclusive we will have to extract all his history. There must be another cause,"

"Lets hope they do not come back inconclusive. The Captain will not be happy," she stated. "We have to get that tumour back inside him."

"Continuing test Charlie 07," she carried on sounding annoyed.

The needles moved in again,

“Arrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhh,” Liam yelled suddenly sitting up in his bed, sweating.
