When I applied to DS5 on 3rd March 2008 it seemed like the perfect home for my Romulan who had been stagnating for two years on a defunct Starbase elsewhere.

After a few months Mark offered my the post of XO - I declined then as I had no interest in writing a Fleet character. About six months later when the offer was made again I accepted. Mark was a fantastic CO who like others before him got overwhelmed by balancing the real world and the one we write here.

I stepped in officially as CO after a year or so and have held that seat ever since. Like my predecessors I too have come to struggle with that balance and I owe it to you who write this world to step aside so our tradition can flourish under new leadership rather than wither through neglect.

Both Bert and Notty have been so supportive over the last months while I have tried to garner the motivation to reinvigourate DS5 but the spark in me has failed.

I hope you will stick around to write whatever form the future takes with a new CO, written by the wonderfully creative Notty, in the corner office.

I'll still be around, but in the sidelines having fun with Peridot, Admiral Purrcey and some of my minor characters - the ones that won't delay the plot too much if I disappear for a few weeks.
