If her audience continues to stand still, she will start a discussion of the shifts in the Vulcan language since the Time of Awakening, and what that means in terms of the modern understanding of Surak’s teaching. | |

Personal History | T’Vren was born on the Vulcan colony of Chavat III, a planet best known for its production of high end tea blends. Her mother is a teacher and her father, a horticulturalist. As a small child, T’Vren had a speech impediment. Interventions for the issue would start a lifelong interest, nearly obsession, with words and languages. While there is a general standard curriculum by age, Vulcan children are never held back from advancing. She completed her studies in grammar and vocabulary well ahead of her age mates, advancing into Ancient Vulcan literature before her teens. From there, she explored Romulan and its common roots with modern Vulcan. She explored the different accents and dialects of Vulcan (the accent on Chavat III having developed a slight breathiness to fricative sounds such “s” that is not found on the Vulcan homeworld). In her teens, she was able to take remote classes via the Vulcan Science Academy on linguistics and languages. In other areas, she remained average, even lagging behind her peers in the area of representative visual arts, as she focused on classic Vulcan calligraphy. T’Vren entered Starfleet as they have the most robust language and linguistics program in the Federation, including the unique opportunity to study previously unknown languages. Her bondmate’s career, by contrast, has kept him on Chavat III. While they are well matched, neither is sure that it is logical to continue their bond when their paths have diverged so significantly. |
