| Personal History | Born during the heart of the Cardassian occupation Geral, like many other Bajoran children of the time, found themselves on the streets. By the time he had reached his teens he had developed a quick wit and the uncanny ability to read people, especially their likes and dislikes. Using these skills, and whatever sources he could arrange, he aided the Bajoran resistance by "acquiring" luxury items for local Cardassians while gathering whatever information he could. As his reputation grew his clientele grew to include a long list of powerful Cardassian both on Bajor and Cardassia. Ever cautious he made several enemies within the resistance as he would never reveal information without compensation nor would he risk exposing himself. An expert manipulator his maneuverings had diverted suspicion from himself, and those of his associates, onto more than one hapless Cardassian and even to his fellow Bajorans a time or two. By the end of the occupation he had amassed a considerable fortune as well as an extensive network of contacts and suppliers. Using his wealth and connections he went legitimate for a time but nothing brings out the desire for nice things or opportunity like war. During the Dominion war he once again found himself dealing under the table with Cardassians, Klignons, Bajorans, and members of the Federation looking for those items that had become scarce due to the conflict. Just as during the occupation, if there was a risk of exposure, there was a patsy in place...just in case. Following the war he continued to serve the high end community providing whatever was requested, legal or otherwise, for varying forms of compensation. As the years past his markets expanded gaining him a clientele from one end of the quadrant to the other. Those he trusted the most were given command of the transport ships he owned or purchased. Those in his employ who failed to live up to his expectations, or got caught where quickly dealt with. |
